FAQ
1. Can I move my US job to Canada if my company doesn't have a Canadian entity?
Our TRIP program is designed so you can relocate to Canada without your company having a Canadian entity. To do this, you become our employee in Canada, and we sign a contract with the company you work for to deliver services to them. We handle all legal and payroll requirements, acting as your official employer in Canada while you deliver services remotely to your US company.
2. Is this program also valid if I have an independent contractor agreement with a company or work as self-employed/freelance?
If you are an independent contractor and work for one or two companies, you must be willing to become an employee of Syndesus. We will form a new services contract with your company or companies and assign you to be the person to deliver those services. However, you cannot work as a self-employed person/freelancer in Canada. You can only work for us. If you have more than 2 clients or develop new clients frequently, then this program may not be right for you.
3. Are only tech workers eligible to move their US job to Canada?
While ideal for tech roles, our employees include STEM and Business professionals who can deliver work remotely from Canada to US companies, including Product Managers, Data Scientists, QA Engineers, Statisticians, Business Analysts, and more.
4. What type of visa would I get moving to Canada?
5. What is the eligibility criteria to move my US job to Canada?
- You must be able to perform your work remotely on a full-time basis from Canada
- The company you work for must not have a presence in Canada
- Your current job must be in a qualifying occupation
- Your salary must be at least USD$85,000
- The company you work for must be wiling and able to support your move to Canada
6. Can I pay the fees for this relocation?
You may not pay our fees or the government application fees, whether directly or indirectly. The company you work for must pay our fees. This means that under no circumstances can the company recover the fees from you. However, you can of course pay other costs for relocation, such as moving expenses, translation of documents, qualification assessments, and professional licencing.
7. I got laid off or I don't have a current job yet. Can I still apply for this program?
We are sorry to hear that. One of the main eligibility criterias is to have a current job under the STEM category. If you are looking for jobs in Canada, please see open positions here listed by our Recruiting specialist – https://pathtocanada.com/working-in-canada/current-tech-jobs/
